The “Yes, they do” Strip
They do, and it’s fucking nasty. If you know what I’m talking about, then you know what I’m talking about.
So anyway, poor C-3PO.

I’ll explain.
For some bizarre reason, a C-3PO action figure has become some sort of defacto baoding balls for me. It has been sitting on my desk ever since I restarted the strip, and now during any sort of pause in my work, I pick the figure up and fiddle with the limbs, chew on his head, whatever. I have no idea why, and I kind of feel sorry for the guy.
He has become something of an icon though, and I wonder if I lost Threepio, would something bad happen to the comic? Or even me? I don’t know, and I don’t care to know.
So I will spin those limbs and chew on his head, and keep doing what I’m doing. Seriously, though, it’s just a little weird. I mean, I’m doing it now. I’m doing it right now.
This is information that I think enriches your lives.
This is an important strip, even if it is, in essence, a terrible fart joke. First off… three weeks of comics. That’s good. Second, it marks the end of the “introduction” phase of the comic, which is always terribly awkward, and somewhat forced. Well, that is over now, and we can get into the meat of the strip. This means I can start doing whatever comes to me, be it a game gag, movie comic, dramatic twist, whatever. I’m happy, because now the real Aikida can begin.
The art experiment is going okay I think. I’m seeing areas I can improve, some places where I might need to fill in some light ink to strengthen faint lines. One subtle point that I was happy with was the height relations. You get a good sense of how tall Aikida is when she is next to Wade. That made me happy.
I also noticed every line from Pepper in the strip ends with an exclamation mark. In fact, most of her dialogue does. Now perhaps today was a little bit overboard, but I suppose I do intentionally write Pep with the intention of portraying her as very excitable. I mean, her nickname is Pep, for fuck’s sakes. I can totally picture her knocking back thirty cups of coffee a day. She’s insane, I love Pepper.
Vote, it increases sexual potency. Yes, for reals.
Monday’s strip is going to be hot, I guarantee. Let’s meet back here on that day!

so i’m curious as to what happend to all the previous comics you had posted about a year and half ago? are they gone forever or just in a seperate archive?

The old comics can be found here: http://www.aikida.net/about/
It should be noted, again, that these comics are not canonical anymore. They don’t count. This series has nothing to do with them.

Ah, good ol’ Fenris (or do you prefer “Josh” now)
You’re art seems a lot tighter than it used to, and I’m enjoying the intro immensly. What are you using for art now? Pensils and inks? Wacom?
Missed ya man, kutgw.

Nice to see you again, Vert.
The art is just pencil & scan, no ink. I think it is working out interestingly enough.

I remember form your old comics that you reuse drawings but move eyes or something else minor. Let me note that you are not the only one to do it. Maybe though you can try to re-position one person to give each panel it’s own uniqueness. The last two panels in this strip have only the facial features changed. I know these things take time but sometimes a small adjustment can mean a big payoff to viewers like me. As always, keep it up sir. Glad to see you are sticking with the none inked colored scans.

Absolutely awesome to see you producing again, ma man. I stumbled across the new “Aikida” today. Aikida you not, it absolutely made my day. Best wishes.
