Aaron “Beerman” Begg wasn’t one hundred percent confident about the whole “co-writing” thing, so I said, “Write your own week of strips, see how that goes.” Today’s strip is one of those, and frankly, it terrified me. Not because it was on the subtle side (Its a cute, Sydney-being-Sydney strip, a nice change of pace from pounding F-words in your face three times a week, I think.) No, because it was a sight gag, and even now, I think I could have done better… though Sydney in panel two is just darling!

So he gave me three strips, though I nixed one because it was going to use a character that I’m not ready to introduce just yet. (Here’s a hint, her name rhymes with Kassandra. ) We’ll see another Aaron strip on Friday, I’ll be handling Wednesday, and from there it will be more collaborative. Lets all be supportive, as Aaron is just getting his feet wet. Dude is funny, though, and has had a grasp on the strip’s characters for a long, long time, and I think once we get in sync and get rolling, you’ll be seeing the best (and most consistent) Aikida strips, ever.

You’ll note I’ve added some not-so-fancy graphics to the post. This is because this template doesn’t seem to handle multiple authors well (note it never displays who wrote the actual post. I’m sure this can be fixed somewhere, I am just not the dude to fix it.), and the posting system itself seems… inflexible. So we’re doing this, for now. Also, my post name/image is but a placeholder, because I think I can do better with some time and thought.

Donators! I’ve finally received those emails, and you should all see your donation incentives by the end of the day, barring my death. There is going to be some semi-scary news on the financial front later this week, but for now know that I am super grateful for the support.

Before I go, do I have to weigh in on the whole Brett Favre thing? I mean, I guess I do, but I don’t know which way to go. Yes, Brett is Packers football, and I can see both sides of the argument. Brett fucked the Pack over with his going back and forth on the subject, but the Packers are in turn screwing Favre over by a) not letting him come back to the team and b) not releasing him if they don’t want to play him.

I love Brett Favre. My very short lived sports site featured one of the best articles I’ve ever written, about Favre. This episode is tarnishing his legacy, and the Packers image, and I really just wish they’d settle it and move on. I’d love for Brett to play another season as the Green Bay starting QB. I want to see him earn that job, go to minicamp, show the Packers, and us, that Aaron Rodgers is going to have to sit one more year.

But this outcome is looking to be a fantasy, and that is going to be a somewhat lame end to a great career. I guess I should be thankful that Steve Yzerman really had the iconic sports career… all with one team, with multiple championships as their captain and best player. It really is a rarity in modern sports. True, Brett Favre started as a Falcon, but it isn’t how you come in… its how you go out.

And Favre is going out with a bang… a big, ugly one. And I think both he, and the Pack, are in the wrong here.

So I’ll just stick here on the fence, praying for a fantasy ending, but expecting a reality finale.

Hello, Aikidans. Shit it sounds like you’re all on some weird diet.Like Fenris mentioned a while back, I’m helping with the whole writing process occasionally, in between my busy schedule of fisting cows and trying hard not to kill my lecturers. The cow fisting isn’t just for fun though, it is for a purpose.

The sheep thing though, thats recreational.

So yeah, hopefully I’ll keep Fenris on the straight and narrow, titty jokes and euphemisms for masturbation all the way. And hopefully I’ll get my own quasi-pornographic images drawn for me.Things are looking up!

I have a few more additions to my post, as I have been cleaning up the site a bit, and getting to things I have been putting off. To the bullets!

• All the donation emails have been sent out, finally. Big props to Aikida supporters. The meter at the top of the page has been updated as well. Seems we’re going to fall short of the goal, but that is fine, as it was just a loose target. I’m still going to have to kill all of my hostages though, I apologise. If there are any problems with the donation links and/or images, please email me, and I will look into it.
• Since Buzzcomix seems to be out for now, I’ve made the switch to Topwebcomics. Switch back, really, since Aikida used to do pretty well on TWC back in the day. Regardless, please vote, and vote every day. A little grassroots marketing for this site can go a long way.
• The Extras page has been updated with some fan art, a new banner, and that wallpaper I promised to put up based on this strip.
• I’ve added a link to our IRC channel on the sidebar there.  IRC… I don’t even know if its popular anymore, but Aikida has had its own channel, off and on, for about seven years.  Download mIRC if you need a pretty simple IRC client… just install it, click the link, and you’re in.  Pretty dead in there right now, but if you’re lucky (or unlucky), you might catch myself or Aaron in there, maybe even going over strip ideas.  Excitement!
