The Good Morning Strip
There’s an episode of The Wire in season one, where Bunk and Jimmy go back to an old crime scene, investigating the murder of a young woman who was shot in her apartment. The only dialogue for the entire scene is, essentially, Bunk and Jimmy exchanging lines of “Fuck”, and “Motherfucker”. It is a fantastic sequence on the best show T.V. has to offer, and it struck me as what a typical morning would be like for our acerbic title character.

Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes died over the weekend. At this point, I am at a loss as to what to say. 2008 has been a celebrity killer; the numbers are insane. Hayes is sad because of his music, and personality, but I feel the Bernie Mac one because I am a real fan of his work, especially his stand-up comedy. His Original Kings of Comedy and Def Comedy Jam routines are fantastic, and fifty years is far too young to lose a man of his talent.
The donations are still coming in with power, which is awesome. Beyond server fees and food, I’ve upgraded my advertising pool, and even begun to price some Wacoms for the future. We’ve more than tripled the goal for August so far… I am at a loss of words to express my relief and gratitude. All I can do is keep up with the comics, and I think I’m doing that well. Even with the odd late and one missed day, this has been the most consistent run of Aikida ever. And I am definitely feeling comfortable enough to continue at this pace.
Wednesday is going to continue this arc, and we will bear witness to the terrifying interior of Pepper’s bedroom. Please, keep on voting, and I’ll see you back here in a few days.

To add my opinion on the best obscenity use on TV; there has never been ( and probably never will be ) a show that used the word cocksucker with as much style and grace as Deadwood. God, I loved that damn show.
May HBO rot in hell.

I always wondered how females manage to look rough yet beautiful in the morning - even on a “bad hair day”. Must be one of those secrets they keep from us males.

@mer - Wait, I don’t get it. This is a hentai comic? As for drawing…Fenris(Josh) has said before that he’s a writer first, artist second. So it’s fine.

Yah, the art goes from adequate to jaw-dropping and that’s one of the things that keeps me reading. The second panel above is perfect. It’s a smart web comic strip done by one person. It doesn’t want to be Marvel Comics, and it doesn’t have to be to compete.

A hentai comic? There is some fan service here and there to be sure. Mer, you might want to read the all the strips before judging or just trying to be an internet jerk. Aikida has indeed evolved over many years and I’m looking forward to seeing the comic continue for many more. For the love of Buddha, keep up the good work Fenris!

Mer, anybody who even starts comparing this comic to anime is delusional. The proportionality of characters in a comic drawn three times a week is not going to be perfect unless the artist is insanely obsessive, or gets paid a lot more money than Fenris does. And the proportions in this comic blow every anime I’ve ever seen completely out of the water. If those bitches were real, their eyes would cook their damn brains every time they stepped out into sunlight.
