Lingerie Week, Day One
![]()
And Lingerie Week is underway. Remember, this week was a reward to you, the reader, for supporting this site in dark times this past August, and for all these years in general. The vote was put to you all, and lingerie it was. I was hoping for “Top Hat” week myself, but maybe later.
Check back every day this week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Sorry, nothing Sunday). We’ll have pinups every day, and I hope to have wallpapers of each one by the end of the week. These are going to be donation quality pinups (I hope), as a reward to you guys. I may even throw in something for the ladies, because I know you’re out there and probably quite prepared not to check a single update this week.
My thanks to everyone who donated, and to all those who continue to do so. This is your week, and I hope you enjoy it.
Let’s change speed a bit and head back to last week, specifically World of Warcraft.
With a street date now announced for the expansion (November 13th, it would seem), we’ve got about two months to get anything that needs doing, done. One of those things that needs doing, I have decided, is the return of the Pantless Avengers(the name is based on this strip).

Over three years ago, we started the Pantsless Avengers WoW guild (Alliance) on the new (at the time) Dragonblight server. Through it we helped introduce new players to the World of Warcraft, and had some great times, but it was flawed. The biggest issue we had was that a good eighty percent of the guild was casual alts, people who made characters on DB just to hang out, talk, but were not really dedicated because they had mains elsewhere.
While I appreciated their interest, and was happy to meet and interact with a lot of Aikida readers, we never had a properly formed core group of players. Where we had great times on our first Dead Mines, Gnomeregan, Stockades and Scarlet Monastery runs, we lost a lot of people in the level forty grinds until one day it was just me and Lance (Benderson) discussing what we should do. Spend the energy to recruit people from the server who were not necessarily Aikida fans, or move on? We mulled over the former, but went with the latter. I rolled Horde, Lance went on to raid and PvP, and tPA only existed as a rather empty name, for years.
Until this weekend.
I spent the weekend housecleaning the guild. I dusted off Aikida, and started gearing her for tanking, something I haven’t done on her since Scarlet Monastery. I bought a tab for the guild bank. I worked on my other level seventy on that server, Veilshadow, finally getting over the hump with her enchanting skill. (250-300 is a bitch) I talked with other former players in IRC, discussing getting back into the game, restarting the guild, even getting a Vent server.
So this is what my goal is. In the expansion, there is going to be ten man versions of every end game instance, and I have always been a fan of the old fashioned five man dungeons as well. What I want to do is start building a core of people, starting now, with our target being twenty to twenty five active players by the time we all hit level eighty in December or whatever. (Or by November 18th if you’re me) When you join, this is your main. This is the character you’re going to spend time on, the guild you’re going to spend time with. Transfer over, reroll, whatever you want… but we want that core.
Lance said an interesting thing when we spoke of this on IRC the other day, saying how he still tells stories about his times in the game, even now, to which I replied “Good times are good times, regardless of the medium.”
I’ll have more news on this in the coming days, so I’ll leave it at this… if you’re looking to get into WoW now, or get back into it with a fresh start, maybe you’re sick of guild bullshit. (I know I am… random tanget here; Of all the guilds I have been in during my WoW days, tPA is the only one that never had drama. Granted, we never raided, but even without that, you can often tell who is going to be a problem personality in a guild. We had none of that.)
If you have any desire to play, for the first time, or for the tenth, the Pantsless Avengers are recruiting again! This is all I ask this time around: No half hearted alts. If your main is a tier six god in a hardcore raiding guild, and you’re happy, by all means, stay there. But maybe you haven’t played for awhile, or are tired of guild politics, or maybe you want to leave all of that behind and roll that night elf druid you’ve been mulling over for months now. Maybe you have an unguilded alliance main already!
This is who I want. The goal is to have 20-25 people by December, but in the short term I’d love to have ten solid players by the time the expansion hits. This will never be a bleeding edge raiding guild (though we will raid, trust me), but I will guaran-fucking-tee this could be the best time you’ve had in WoW in a long time. It doesn’t always have to be about what you do or what you have, but rather who you do it with.
So why not punch some cats with the Pantsless Avengers?
If interested, you can start by emailing me, replying in the comments for this post, or contacting me in game. My present characters on Dragonblight are Aikida, Veilshadow and Annapuma. If you can’t reach me in game, mail me. I’ll be working on a Guild Portal site as well, I think.
Spiel done! Think it over.
See you Tuesday.

So is that a photo of someone’s bedroom, and you ctrl-V’d Aikida into it?
Also, good hair. Think about keeping it.

I have the secret ability to draw photo-realistic backgrounds.
It is true!
Actually, I had another background in mind, but it didn’t work out, so I had to quickly find a replacement. I thought that this would be what Aikida’s bedroom looked like, if she were real.

Looks cool to me. Experimentation is part of web comics.
You ever read Alien Loves Predator? That guy doesn’t actually draw anything. It’s all photos.
Having said that, I love me some Lingerie Week. Looking forward to more :)

Having been a long time resident of Dragonblight, I’ll give a nice welcome to the return of the Pantsless Avengers. Though, while I am not an Alliance player should I see you while out on my Blood Elf Paladin I’ll stop and wave.

It was mine. My idea.
I win all your internets… hand em over.

Oh no my Bikini week idea didn’t win, yet with lingerie week it still FEELS like a win. Yup, I think everything’s going to be all right :)

I didn’t even notice that the background was a photo. As for comics that are all photos, I prefer Fuzzy Knights. No need to actually play RPGs when I can read comics about plushies playing them. ;-)

Soooooo….. umm, yeah, hi, I was wondering if the whole guild thing is just for any level at all, ’cause I’ve tried to join a few guilds before only to have people say “Oh. A level . We don’t want you, ever. EVER.” Or gobbledigook Leet speak to that effect, so this place ain’t gonna be like that right? ‘Cause I’m not a fan of the whole ‘Lol, u r noob, gtf!’ thing. If’n ya want a resident goofball who can usually get online around five times a week, it’s time to call: Spoinkle or Doinkle!
Good god I sound like a small ad! Someone help me!

Yes, it will be for any level, but with a focus for hitting 70/80 and learning the game. I expect with people wanting to make fresh characters (hopefully, unless they are willing to transfer), people will be coming it from 1-70, all over the board. I have a bunch of alts at various levels to help out.
September 15th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Roight then! I believe (seein’ as I got nothin’ better to do, other than….SPOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!) I’ll join in! See ya online!

Aikida has a painting of a feather, that’s deep. I’d play; but WoW was stopping me from getting my comic done back in the day. When I say stopping I mean, never starting. I had it bad all I did was fight the same orc everyday, then someone told me that was an npc, and I was wasting my time trying to hop on him like Mario as the game mechanics did not allow it. To which I spent the next year trying to find a mushroom to grow huge when I realized that also did not exist.
I make comics now, the doctors say I’m getting better, I’m still waiting for that mushroom that makes me huge. These other ones don’t work but they do make pretty colors when I eat them.

I think I might be in for your WoW Guild. After years with “City of Heroes” (And loving it) I think I need a change of pace. I was on daily with CoH, but it’s time to move on, possibly. I’ll contact you by e-mail if I actually pick up the game and follow through with the impulse.

Don’t make me transfer Sairon back…
Please? o.o

He’s internet-famous now, you kind of *have* to.
Actually, you don’t, but we’re here if you want to.

Woo! This is going to be a good week.
