The No-Punchline Strip

It happened.  A storyline has begin!

[01:33] <@Fenris> It is done
[01:33] <@Fenris> Now to weather a weekend of “wtfs?”
[01:33] <MrBarman> allow me to be the first
[01:33] <MrBarman> Fenris: wtf?
[01:34] <MrBarman> why am i wtf’ing?
[01:34] <Vorpal> Gasp!
[01:34] <Vorpal> Storyline!
[01:35] * Vorpal dances!
[01:35] <@Fenris> Because its a storyline that will lack punchlines for a few weeks
[01:35] <MrBarman> ah
[01:36] * Vorpal loves Fen
[01:36] <MrBarman> thats more of an ‘oooooOOooo’
[01:36] <@Fenris> Funny dialogue/things will happen, just not on the last panel
[01:36] <Farnsworth> ah
[01:36] <MrBarman> rather than a ‘wtf’
[01:36] <Farnsworth> delicious legs
[01:36] <@Fenris> ..which is pretty standard for this comic
[01:36] <@Fenris> BADDUMP
[01:36] * MrBarman rimshots

As mentioned above, you’re not going to see your standard four panel, sometimes-funny, comics for a few weeks.  If you’re familiar with Pepperwood, these arcs are going to be like that… amusing at times, but I’m not holding myself to any format or timing.  Think of it like a standard comicbook, as the story continues from page to page.  To give you a good warning of how it is going to be, standard strips will be using the classic black borders, storyline strips will be using the white borders. (Which I think look really snappy)

This arc will be going into November, culminating in our Halloween feature.  We hope you enjoy it, and give the format a chance.  Personally, being able to go in between story and gag strips is a flexibility I really hope we can make work, because I need that freedom, and these characters need to be able to do both.

So let’s see how it goes.

Come on back Monday for Aikida in a tennis skirt.

You don’t have to be funny, Fenris, just tell an entertaining story. I’ve been looking foward to seeing Aikida in a new career. Beta-tester never seemed a particularly ‘profitable’ job anyhow…

Wow that paneling was interesting the way it was just boxes going down, how did you get the idea? That last shot reminds me of one I did two weeks ago :D That’s CRA-ZAY!

Funny strips are great, a lingerie week even better, but I’m the most excited for this story arch. As much as I love gags and T&A the personalities and relationships between the characters is what made me come back to Aikida over and over…and over again. I can’t f-ing wait!

Who said the good old days won’t come back?

I really loved [Classic] Aikida and I really loved Pepperwood. Actually inspired me to be creative myself, which culminated in a 250+ pages (and growing) story (more like a small book). Fenris’ creative process and story-/ characterbuilding in Pepperwood and the following Aikida strips were a great - and the first crucial - influence in my own creative endeavours. That’s why Fenris, Aikida and the like will always have a special place in my heart for sure. I realized I never said thank you for that, so I guess here I will go.

Thank you, Fenris, for the wonderful work you’re doing. And thank you for the way your creations enriched my life, fantasy and own work.

    :)

Ah it might not have a punchline, but it does have a crotch shot, classic!

I too am really looking forward to an interesting story more so than the 1 line punch.

Dwight, that was really open and uplifting. Fenris, I too loved Pepperwood. I discovered the link a couple of days ago while perusing your past comments. I only found Aikida three weeks ago. Keep up the great work.

Dwight, will we ever get to see your creation?

@Triton_Mes: Part of it has been published on a different website. I’m afraid it’s in German though…
